Stowe Landscape Gardens
The Gothic Temple - The Landmark Trust
I grew up in North London and now live in Buckingham, Bucks. My working life was in an engineering environment specialising in Software Design and Information Management. After I retired in 2006 I founded our local art society, Buckingham Art For All (Bafa) in order to create a vibrant art community with shared ideals. I was Chair for 3 years, President for the following year and I am now a Patron.
Educated primarily at the school of 'self tuition', Landscapes and portraiture are my particular passion. Frustrated by the level and quality of teaching where there seemd to be a penchant for chasing the next art 'fad' I discovered the Florence Academy of Fine Art through my local Stowe School. Here I met both Toby Wright and Joe Altwer who both had studied and taught at the Florence Academy. For 4 years I studied under their tutelage exploring the methods and practices of the old masters in life drawing, portraiture and landscape painting.
My work having been transformed I now paint ‘en plein-air’ using oils as well as using reference photographs to assist with the completion of works in my studio. In addition to working in oils I also work in watercolour and pastel.
I constantly strive to learn more and extend my skills and knowledge. I have exhibited in Buckingham, Stowe, Woburn Abbey and Mouvaux in France. Many of my works can be found in private collections in the UK and France.
